The Oki MC560 is a is a colour LED all-in-one printer (similar to a colour laser MFP) that produces excellent looking text pages with an affordable toner. However, the large Oki MC560 has a high price tag and requires a lot of special attention to be worth your while.
Setting it up is less friendly than most. The printed setup poster as well as the setup guide deals with the hardware phase sufficiently, however when you get to the software stage, all of a sudden the instructions became sketchy. Oki doesn't have a on-screen routine, thus you will have to depend on Windows hardware installation wizard.

Well, we somehow managed to deal with that that issue, but found ourselves in trouble again with the installation of the Twain driver: what we've encountered did not match on what is on the instructions. When we asked Oki about it, the vendor stated that it was pretty much expected by most of the users to download the drivers directly from the website instead of using those that are provided and/or included in the CD. The documentations could have mentioned those expectations if ever so as to avoid any problems in the future.

After installing it successfully, the Oki MC560 worked really well in our speed tests, with above-average ratings on all methods except for the scanning test; yet, not one of the results got close to Oki's advertised 32 pages per minute for black text output and 20ppm for the colour graphics.
The Oki MC560 prints finely drawn text and line art, but colour images looked dark and oversaturated. Scans tended towards the complete opposite extreme, looking washed-out and showing visible moiré patterns in some instances.
The Oki MC560 features several interesting yet doubtful design elements. The 50-sheet multipurpose plastic tray feels light. Once the media is placed on the tray, you need to press the oversize blue button beside it to lift the media up to the input slot - a strange additional step.
Unsurprisingly, the flatbed Scanner and the automatic document feeder can be found at the top of the printer chassis, which is typical in MFP's. You have to raise the Scanner/ADF assembly then the printer's top lid to get to the toner cartridges. If you only raise the Oki MC560's top lid, it will hit the scanner/ADF unit.
Its toner cartridges aren't keyed; and once we deliberately switched 2 colours, the Oki MC560 did not detect the situation - it just printed a bizarre-coloured result Oki acknowledged the design and indicated concern that our experiment could damage the printer - but if they are aware of this problem, why didn't Oki do something to avoid it?
The Oki MC560 best features is its very affordable toner, this unit is released along with starter-size (2,000-page) black and colour toner cartridges. The replacement OKI MC560 toner cartridges are rated at 8,000 pages for black and 6,000 pages for the 3 colour cartridges. The black cartridge can be found for about £90 and the colours for £150, this present price can be greatly reduced by purchasing compatible cartridges and this move would cut down half of your printing cost.
This machine is equipped with some nice features, particularly its inexpensive toner. But with its many problematic aspects, It's hard for us to recommend it.
